Curriculum Impact

Our cohesive curriculum is designed to allow children to progress their knowledge, skills and understanding in sequential steps across the curriculum.  Our success is underpinned by developing fluency and confidence of  key skills in maths, reading and writing with application across the wider, broad and balanced curriculum. Our curriculum intends to develop happy, confident learners who make good progress and are ready for their future next steps.  Our curriculum intends to prepare children to live in and contribute to our democratic society.

Our curriculum is led and managed by Subject Leaders and implemented against a context of strong pastoral care.   Our curriculum meets the needs of all learners who are continually assessed both formally and informally.

Our children love learning!   They are curious and well-motivated.   They are happy to take risks and make good progress in all subjects. Our children are kind and caring individuals who know the importance of respect and tolerance as a basis for a happy and harmonious community.

The formal curriculum is all the learning opportunities that we plan and organise in order to promote learning, personal growth and whole child development.  Our curriculum is closely informed by the National Curriculum and also includes the range of extra-curricular activities that the school organises in order to enrich the experience of our children.

Whilst having rigorous standards, we do not solely rely on an academic curriculum but also aim to teach the children how to become considerate and responsible people who can work in harmony with others.   We do this through our informal curriculum which see us valuing each child with compassion and care, so that children can learn from the positive role models around them.

Our “Learning Powers” enable children to become good learners across the curriculum.  Our children are curious and well-motivated learners who enjoy their own particular learning journey.

Our curriculum is designed so that all learners can fulfil their potential and acquire a love of learning for life.  We aim to give all of our children the skills, knowledge and understanding to achieve to the best of their ability academically, socially and emotionally.  Our learning take places in a safe, nurturing and compassionate environment where every child is valued.

We believe that as every child is unique,   so every child needs a learning journey that is unique and personalised to each individual need.  Listening carefully and responding to our pupil voice ensures our curriculum is well matched to our learners. Knowing the next step for each learner, enables us to ensure all children make good progress.

We also aim to give our children the necessary skills to prepare them for life in modern British society.  For example our curriculum, helps children to understand what it means to live in a democracy that promotes tolerance, freedom and respect for different cultures.

At Flyford Flavell, we believe that learning is an active collaboration between home and school. Parents are actively encouraged in to school in order that we work as a team towards a common goal of best outcomes for children.
