Healthy Living

At Flyford we give children the skills and knowledge to make healthy choices about their lifestyles.  Children who are particularly active at playtimes are celebrated with an "Active Learning" certificate in our family assembly every Friday.  They share with the school what activities they have enjoyed so that other children can learn from them.  Our lunchtime supervisors also award stickers for children who have made a healthy choice or bring in healthy food in the lunchboxes.

We encourage all of our Year 4 children to join our cookery club where they can learn to cook fresh and healthy meals. We often share healthy foods, linked to a wide range of cultures as part of our topic learning.  This gives children the opportunity to develop their confidence in eating a wide range of food.

We monitor all of our children and encourage them to join a sporting extra-curricular club.  Indeed, we amend our provision in response to their interests, for example our Year 4 children were keen to have a netball club in the summer term 2019.

As part of the P.E. and science curriculum, children learn about how bodies work, the benefits of a range of activities, how to keep healthy and the work of all the different food groups.

We have a range of all-weather outdoor equipment.  Our sports ambassadors make sure that children have a wide range of equipment to use at lunchtimes and will encourage younger or less confident children with choosing an activity.

Our children enjoy competitive sports, meeting with other local schools for tournaments such as rugby and bell-boating.

Healthy Lunchboxes

Our "Let's Get Cooking" club made these healthy treats for all pupils to try.   We hope you enjoy them!
