Online Safety

Children at Flyford Flavell First School,  use the internet on a regular basis as part of their learning. Technology enhances learning, and we ensure pupils get the most from it, by encouraging responsible online behaviour.

In school, we use a filtering system to prevent children accessing inappropriate sites.  Children are taught online safety skills as part of their computing curriculum and half-termly assemblies are used to remind children of the care they need to take when engaging with technology.

Children are encouraged to take a balanced approach to technology and to use it in a purposeful manner.  We encourage the children to research the people and topics we discuss in whole school assemblies to find out more.  House-points are given to all children who undertake research work at home, linked to school themes.

Online Safety

Within the UK, the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP) spearheads activities and launches resources to raise awareness and empower children and young people. Their, Think You Know resources cater for children of all ages, teachers, parents indeed all members of the school community.
